Repentance
The day after his funeral, the corpse of Varlam Aravidze, the mayor of a small Georgian town, turns up in his son's garden. Although it is secretly reburied, the corpse keeps returning until the police capture the local woman who is responsible. This woman says that Varlam should never be laid to rest since his Stalin-like reign of terror led to the disappearance of her family and friends.

Synopsis:
In a small, surreal Georgian town, the tyrannical local mayor, Varlam Aravidze, passes away and is buried with full honors. However, the following morning, his corpse mysteriously reappears in his family's garden. No matter how many times the authorities rebury him, a defiant local woman named Ketevan Barateli repeatedly digs him up. Arrested and put on trial, Ketevan refuses to apologize, using the courtroom as a grand stage to expose Varlam's horrifying legacy of totalitarian purges, bureaucratic terror, and the erasure of innocent citizens. A masterpiece of anti-Stalinist satire, the film serves as a haunting allegory of memory, historical guilt, and the necessity of justice.

Preserved in its native, historical 4:3 full-frame aspect ratio at a progressive resolution of 768x576 at 25.000 FPS. Custom psychovisual and deblock constraints were deployed to gracefully render the film's gritty, deeply symbolic analog cinematography without color banding.
